Working too much can lead to a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion. This is what we call burnout. It’s more than just feeling tired all the time. It’s a specific syndrome with its own set of symptoms. And it’s a real scourge for the modern worker. The World Health Organization has even classified burnout as an “occupational phenomenon.”
1. You’re exhausted all the time
This one is pretty self-explanatory. If you’re constantly tired, even after a full night’s sleep, you might be burned out.
2. You’re not motivated
Lack of motivation is another common symptom of burnout. If you can’t find the energy to care about your work, it might be because you’re burned out.
3. You’re not productive
This is a direct result of the first two symptoms. If you’re exhausted and unmotivated, you’re not going to be very productive.
4. You’re irritable
If you find yourself snapping at co-workers or loved ones for no reason, it could be a sign that you’re burned out.
5. You’re making mistakes
When you’re burned out, it’s harder to focus and pay attention to detail. This can lead to more mistakes.
If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, it’s important to take action. Burnout is a real phenomenon, and it can have serious consequences for your health and your career.
So, if you think you might be burned out, take some time for yourself. Relax, recharge, and come back refreshed. Your work will thank you for it.
